meet Nessa.
breed: Rottweiler.
age: Nearly 5 months.
instagram: @nessatherottie.
favourite treat: Sugarsnap peas and anything chimkin flavoured.
favourite cuddles: On my lap while I’m on Zoom!
favourite game: Tug.
what gets their tail wagging most? A boiled egg at breakfast time.
what job do nessa and laura do? I’m a freelance commercial photographer. I’m either out taking photos or sat at my computer on Photoshop. Nessa has learnt very quickly that posing nicely with a big lens in her face = treats!
what was their first day in the office like? Her first day in the office was spent snoozing on the sofa behind me, swaddled in a blanket and snoozing like a baby.
how often does nessa go to the office? My “office” is tucked away in a little corner of the lounge. Nessa is part of the furniture, obvs. She’s with me every day.
what is nessa’s favourite thing to do in the office? She loves to sleep next to my desk on her beanbag while I work, even though her head hangs off it now because she’s getting too big.
does nessa like sharing her office space? Yes! She’s a people person, she’s very sociable. She’s my shadow and rarely leaves my side.
other than you (of course) who is nessa’s favourite colleague? Probably my youngest son. She loves getting involved in his homeschooling, especially when he’s doing yoga infront of the tv!
how has having nessa at work improved the working environment? She helps to give my working day more routine and better structure, especially while we’re in a lockdown and each day merges into the next. She also gives me someone to talk to, she’s a great listener!
does nessa ever get up to mischief/any embarrassing office stories? They say you should never work with animals or children – Nessa quite often decides to ambush my meetings while I’m on Zoom! She just loves getting on my lap because she’s realised that the people on the screen love it and talk to her. Before I know it, I’m holding her front paw and making her wave back to them…so embarrassing!
paws in home bonus question! how is nessa coping with the UK on lockdown? She’s missing her step-sisters, Taika and Miska. They’re my mum’s dogs and they’re Finnish Laphunds. We can’t wait for lockdown to end so we can go for a walk and a play together again. As soon as she’s 9 months old and social distancing isn’t needed anymore, I’m going to get her on the books with Pets As Therapy. This will mean we can make charity visits to care homes and hospitals and make poorly people smile. She also loves taking a walk to see the horses when we’re on a break.
